One of the most important considerations that a cafe, restaurant or takeaway has to think about is accurate customer orders, especially with today’s stricter requirements for food labelling, allergies and customer order exceptions. Add to that the increase in orders from multiple channels including in-store, kiosk/self-service, drive-through and online collection and delivery and an efficient and accurate ordering process becomes essential.
With this in mind, Star has developed the new TSP654IISK label printer, approved with MaxStick linerless media, for repositionable food orders and labels and new upgraded features ideal for hospitality use.
Why print food orders and labels?
Printed orders vastly improve order accuracy. With increasing custom orders and order exceptions – for example, no nuts, extra cheese – a printed order can be sent directly from the POS system or online app to the kitchen, which can then follow the order through the food prep process so all staff members can see the customer’s requirements and subsequently be attached to the final packaging as a receipt for the customer to receive, cuts down on errors.
The sticky paper also means there is less chance of printed orders getting lost. The TSP654IISK can accept orders from traditional POS systems, tablets, phones and also directly from local or remote online ordering platforms. This streamlines the entire process and reduces paper waste, saving valuable time and cost.
What are linerless labels?
The re-stick, repositionable labels produced by the TSP654IISK are ideal for sticking to food prep trays and bags and food and drinks packaging. The label can be removed leaving virtually no residue but, while attached, will not move or fall off. The TSP654IISK is certified with MaxStick linerless label rolls available in 80mm, 58mm and 40mm widths, ideal for smaller items such as takeaway coffee cups. Linerless media is durable and has no backing paper which means more paper per roll than traditional label rolls and no paper wastage. Significant savings can be made from printing a single label as opposed to a separate kitchen order, food label and customer receipt.
Efficient Order Handling
The new printer offers a fast print speed of 180mm per second and a high-quality cutter, ideal for busy environments taking multiple orders.
The printer also features a paper-taken sensor, which can be set to ensure that no other labels are printed before the previous label is taken, reducing backlog as well as paper waste and cost. The taken sensor also allows the host software to know the time that the label was taken and how long after printing or how long before delivery the print job was started for increased efficiency.
The TSP654IISK can also connect to an optional integrated buzzer alert to ensure that no orders are missed, as the buzzer can be set to sound once or at intervals until the label is taken.
Multi-connectivity
The TSP654IISK is compatible with the majority of hospitality software and online apps with multiple interface versions available including USB, LAN and Star’s versatile HI X Connect. A separate Bluetooth model is available for simple connection to Apple, Android and Windows tablets. Star WebPRNT and CloudPRNT technologies, included on the Hi X Connect interface version, are ideal for cloud kitchens and online ordering applications for collection or delivery with the customer’s order being sent straight from the ordering app to the kitchen or order printer. Star has even developed a plug-in for WooCommerce for simple integration into a large number of hospitality websites based on the WordPress platform.
